About TriCore

A construction and industrial safety firm, founded by Chris Fredette, CHST.

What we do

We do four kinds of work for contractors and owners: on-site safety leadership, safety plans and written programs, incident and audit response, and training video shot on the client's own site. The work comes out of years on process plants, LNG, pipeline, offshore fabrication, utility-scale solar and data centers.

When a job needs more people, we bring in safety professionals we've worked beside in the field. We don't send anyone we haven't worked with.

How we work

We get the crew on board first. Paperwork alone doesn't change how people work. Crews follow the person who's there every morning more than any manual, so we spend the day on the work with the foreman and the crew, and put our attention on the hazards that can kill or seriously hurt someone. The paperwork still gets done, and it holds up when the owner asks for it.

The founder

Chris Fredette, CHST

Chris has spent eight years in field safety, mostly on high-hazard work: process plants, LNG, pipeline, offshore fabrication, utility-scale solar and data centers. He started TriCore Safety in 2024 to bring what he learned there to more contractors.

In the field

He started with The Industrial Company in 2018 as safety and environmental manager on GE and Shell's modular LNG trains and Enterprise Products' Front Range Pipeline, covering more than 600 miles of compressor station construction and pipeline tie-ins. Both projects finished with zero recordables.

At Kiewit he ran safety for a section of ExxonMobil and SABIC's Gulf Coast Growth Ventures olefin plant, from anchor bolts through commissioning. He then led safety for the Marine Well Containment Company program at Kiewit Offshore Services, while also covering the Ingleside fabrication yard at a peak of about 4,000 workers.

On the renewables side he has worked utility-scale solar for Azco and Burns & McDonnell, on Alliant Energy's program in Wisconsin and Geronimo Power's Bee Hollow project. Most recently he led safety for the mechanical install on CJ Schwan's new food plant in Sioux Falls. There he took a newly assembled crew, many of them on their first field job, and coached them into spotting hazards on their own.

Since August 2026 he's been on Project Lighthouse, a Vantage Data Centers campus in Port Washington, Wisconsin, as a safety manager working with the site's GR team under contract to Whiting-Turner.

What he built along the way

  • A safety observation program in PowerApps and Power BI that captured about 3,000 field observations a week and turned them into trends crews could act on. Kiewit made it a standard across the company.
  • KrewTrac, a crew training platform that started at Kiewit Offshore Services and rolled out across Kiewit.
  • Visual procedure cards that show a task and its PPE at a glance, for Alliant Energy's solar program.
  • A bilingual toolbox talk library and a standard daily report for a multilingual workforce.
  • A "Good Catch" program on Bee Hollow, where crews nominated each other by QR code for spotting hazards early.

Training and media

Chris is a certified NCCER instructor and an FAA-licensed drone pilot, and he plans every TriCore shoot himself. His Life-Saving Action video series was adopted across a contractor's whole organization, and the district behind it went on to win a company safety award for the first time in 2025.
